Take me out to the ballgame – Yankee Stadium

This Sunday, my husband decided to surprise our children with tickets to the Yankee game. Our son was so excited; he could hardly sleep the night before. If he could get dressed that fast every morning, we might have a chance of having breakfast in our kitchen instead of in the car racing to school before the first bell.

Getting to the new stadium (I can’t help but to refer to it as the new stadium even though it opened in 2009) is a breeze, and the trip itself is a huge hit with the kids. We took the express train from Tarrytown and were in our seats in well under an hour.

Nothing is healthy about eating at the stadium, but unless someone discovers a new anthem for baseball, I am not going to be the one to tell my daughter she can’t have peanuts and cracker jacks.

The tickets can be expensive, but there are still some great seats that are relatively well priced. It’s sort of disappointing to see the number of empty seats directly behind home plate while the rest of the stadium is packed, but money makes the world go round, and my son is just excited to be in the same place as Derek Jeter (regardless of where he sits).

As the warm weather seems to be here for the season, I highly recommend getting out with your children for a day at the ballpark. Whether it’s the Yankees, The Rockland Boulders (a minor league professional baseball team in Ramapo, NY), or your town’s little league team, a day at the stadium is fun for everyone.
