My Inspiration for this blog – Harvest on Hudson
I’ve been to this restaurant a million times and have always had a wonderful experience. Perfect atmosphere; views of the Hudson and dining next to a tasty fresh garden. I didn’t think much of it until we recently went for dinner with the kids. The staff was very nice. The host even took my travel seat to the table and set it up before he sat us. The children’s menu, however, lacks the same attention – chicken fingers, pasta with butter or pizza. I spend so much time trying to find healthy choices that are the right size for the kids and the right price for my wallet. Most of the portions on a regular menu are much too large for most adults, so I tend to stick with appetizers and sides. It just doesn’t seem fair. I really wish restaurant owners and chefs would spend a little more time developing a better children’s menu. The menu at Harvest is a little tricky, but I did manage to find something for Max and Olivia, and they enjoyed it very much. We ordered the Creamy Polenta and Grilled Hen of the Woods appetizer. It was a nice size portion of polenta with mushrooms, garlic and fresh parsley -something that could be a perfect item for their children’s menu. For dessert, they had the fresh fruit platter. It was way too large for them, but the rest of us enjoyed eating what was left.
